Volcano Mane persona la ave + steffaloo

steffaloo:

dylan and i have decided to make some tunes together!  and eloise, your words are like a song themselves.. thank you for the amazing write up!

verbreverb:

Persona La Ave and Steffaloo - Volcano Mane

Incipiently astral until poignant laden vocals marvel at the ethereality and remind it of its chill. Mellifluous warm hymns mouth unheard words until rhythms are capable of deciphering meaning. Delicately laced croons loose themselves beneath elaboration laying upon intricacy hoping to be heard. Their sweltering serenity melts frigid sumptuous ripples of synths until the nemesis’s surreptitiously  become the ameliorations of each others weakness’s, voices heard and synths tamed, to which serendipity is found. Volcano Mane is the first track of what I hope to become many more from Dylan of Persona La Ave and Steffaloo (aka Steph Thompson), both immensely prolific musicians in their respective artistry, enhanced in their bound visionary.

Daily Doses: Wild Eyes “Off To The Witch” From The Damir Doma Single (2010)

The combined vision of Chelsea Wolfe and Ben Chisholm, This track off of Wild Eyes  Damir Doma single is a perfect dark step closer to tonight’s full lunar eclipse.

I had the pleasure of catching a solo Chelsea at the Meme (a Los Angeles DIY venue) a few months ago. Blending perfectly with the feel of the place, she created dense soundscapes that made even the back row move closer, caught in her swirl.

I believe she’s based out of San Francisco, so if you have a chance to see her, do so. Meanwhile go ahead and drown yourself in these three tracks for a bit, and let your whole world go away.

Blouse - Shadow

I’m lost in my room, rearranging stacks of books, taking out clothes to sell, putting them back. Under my bed are boxes of photos, alcohol, more books. I’m waiting for a guide to come and take me by the hand. Put a song on repeat, listen until the entire room and all my movements become one giant fluid repetition, cycle. There’s no time and if there is I only know because the room gets dark, or doesn’t. Lie down on my bed, spray perfume in the air. Read a poem, touch my lips. Maps, guides, books on history, everything gets lost in this room.

At their bandcamp site you can also download another great song Into Black.

Unouomedude - Emelia

Have you ever had egg nog? No? When we go to the mountains this is the type of jacket you need to wear. I can’t wait to take you to the cabin. It’s really so pretty up there. We can lie by the fire, under the mistletoe, you’ll be my side. My dad put a bear skin rug in front of the fire place. Really? No, not really. But that’s the type of thing that would be in the cabin. Can you picture it? I don’t want to make a snowman though. Seems too childish. That’s what the snow is for. Remember how wonderful everything is. Bad weather is only bad when you have somewhere to be. We have nothing to do though. It just amazes me now. I can’t wait, can we go now? Yes, I love you, Romance.

In a way this is both an mp3 post as well as a tribute to a great friend and inspiration, Cameron Book. I had originally found out about the wonder of Orisis Glade through Cameron’s perceptive ear. Now I am posting them and I feel a deep sadness that his blogging presence is no longer with us. Life Aquatic would have been nothing without The Road Goes Ever On. I hope he returns soon. Experience the deep and mysterious Breeze in a cold dark room and think of nothing. Pained vocals are blended with repeating guitar hooks and a think paste of synthesizer.

karelian starmaster (evil lucifer) Nightsatan

unholyrhythms:

image

When the darkness obscured his figure, he felt comfortable lurking in the night. Blackened and bloody, he hid until all eyes were closed and he blended in perfectly with the murky, pitch black sky. We had no sense of what was creeping, unaware that we were being watched - examined and studied. As we laughed and carried on as if nothing was happening, he edged closer and closer to our existence. If the sound that rang out was anything but the usual bumps in the night, we might have been alarmed. All at once, everything became a swirling, befuddled, denigrated nightmare - one which would forever tarnish our once quaint memories. For you are now jumpy, mute and shaken and I angered at the cause of our distance; I sought solace in the dark corners of my grisly and hemic imagination. Ensanguined and crimson.

Nightsatan, from Finland, creates the perfect homage to early horror soundtracks on their debut album “Midnight Laser Warrior”. It is eerie and atmospheric, owing a great deal to John Carpenter and Goblin. While these tracks pay homage to the giallo Italian film movement, there is a freshness to them. They’re never stale or hokey - it is a breath of fresh air of what once was - something new yet familiar. A perfect imaginary soundtrack to a giallo film that was never brought to fruition.

Check out Catcus Mouth for his post on what would be considered their counterpart, Umberto. Prepare to be awed.

Kites Geographer

Geographer - Kites

Remember that scene in Footloose, starring Kevin Bacon, when Kevin is speaking to the city council, trying to convince them that the high school should be allowed to host a senior ball. Kevin uses a passage from The Holy Bible that says something about God wanting you to dance to praise Him. Well, that’s what this night is like. I want to dance with you, I want to move rhythmically with you, exhaust ourselves in the dark, enfolding ourselves in the melody. I know you don’t like dancing, but for me, this is just another way for me to praise you.

“St. Paul says there is one God, he confirms that, but he says, ‘There is one God, and many administrations.’ I understand that to mean you can wander out of one universe and into another just by pointing your feet and forward march. I mean you can come to a land where the fate of human beings is completely different from what you understood it to be. And this utterly different universe is administered through the earth itself. Zone A Haunted Internet

“Could you not grip my heart so tightly,” I asked as I struggled for breath. Murky, soiled, and bloody, he replied with a glimmer in his eye, “I have no choice. There is no other way for me to be.” As I tried to break free, I noticed the hold growing stronger and stronger.  The desperately throbbing, erratically pulsating heart would become weaker and weaker with every beat. While I squirmed and writhed in the bloodbath we had created, you fixated your eyes upon mine. Overexerted and exhausted, I closed my eyes every other second, hoping that your appearance was but an apparition. Fading further and further into the warm and comforting darkness, I could feel my breath exit my body - at the exact same time your put your lips to mine. Succumbing to your every wish.

Spend This Day Wintercoats

unholyrhythms:

On the morning after the world came plummeting down, I held my love for the first time. Although we were surrounded by chaos and destruction, everything else faded out. I couldn’t hear the screams, the devastation; I could only focus on the sound of the pounding beat of your heart.

Wintercoats have returned with another fantastically gorgeous, almost snowy track. “Spend This Day” is dream-chamber-pop accompanied by vocal layers and xylophones. Undulating and glimmering exquisiteness - a slow approaching climb that sustains a restrained jubilation. A clandestine musical suitor that woos you and succeeds in 4 minutes.

I don’t have a way to upload music anymore and have no money to pay for hosting, but I’d like to share a “final” song with you before I go. One of my favorite artists, Teen Daze, made this special christmas blend of “Holy, Holy, Holy,” “Christmas At Sea,” and “Goodnight/Sleep Tight” for The Line of Best Fit’s christmas compilation. It arrived just in time and it couldn’t be any better.

(via No Fear Of Pop)
With a myspace layout which will probably make you have an epileptic seizure, I honestly did not expect the music of the portuguese three-piece Evols to be so pure and soulful, as well as taking inspiration from so many genres that it becomes hard to put them into justone category. To me they may sound like a more stripped and slowed down Faust, leading the krautrock-inspired sound in a more ambient direction.

All around the world, people are mourning and celebrating the 30th anniversary of John Lennon’s death.  Alive or dead, he has made a huge impact in this world.  Whether you love him, hate him, or don’t even know who he is, he has and will make an impact in your life.  That’s what people do.  That’s what Lennon will always do.

What I have here for you is a track that Ghost Animal recorded towards the end of summer.  I remember him sending me this track and I listened to it on repeat all night.  ”Isolation” is one of my favorite songs with some beautiful, deep lyrics.  Ghost Animal’s voice really knows how to get inside your soul.  It’s beautiful.
